Holy Week Daily Devotionals
Additional Resources
Welcome! I hope that these devotionals can be a helpful resource for you and your family as you seek to center the Easter season around Jesus Christ. As I was compiling all of these scriptures, songs, videos, and readings, I found myself getting emotional over and over again as I contemplated the unfathomable gift of Jesus Christ and what His life, death, and resurrection mean for me and my family.
This is the non-denominational edition, meaning that it contains songs, quotes, and videos curated from various Christian traditions and believers. Bible verses are not linked, so use whichever version you’re most comfortable with! I have found that we as Christians have far more in common than we sometimes give ourselves credit for, and there is much that we can learn from each other and treasured bonds we can forge as we worship our Savior in unity. I hope you enjoy all of these resources as much as I have!
Remember, this page is additional resources. The complete devotionals PDF can be found at my etsy shop. Bookmark this page so that you can easily find it, because it isn’t linked anywhere else on the site! Happy Holy Week!

Jesus Cleanses the Temple (Messages of Christ)
Reading
He who strode into that temple with a whip that day and turned the place upside down for making a commercial expo out of sacrificial worship would offer Himself as the perfect sacrifice just four days later. The coins now scattered and rolling all over the courtyard floor were woefully insufficient funds for their remission of sins. The payment for their substitutionary offering was pumping that moment in the veins and arteries of the one overturning those tables…I’m of the notion that the church in America is in a bit of a mess and I believe it’s quite possibly for some of the very reasons his house was in a mess in the days of Jeremiah and in the days of the Word made flesh. I think He’s come to clean house and I think sometimes the way He cleans house is to turn it upside down. But, if we’re willing to not run away, we may hear an inaudible voice say, “Come all who know your infirmities, your weaknesses and blemishes. Come all who know you are broken and blind. Come and be healed.” (Living Proof Ministries, 2021)

“The kind of a fig tree mentioned in Mark 11 produces an early fig, even before it is full with leaves. The main crop of figs comes later. If a tree produces no early figs, it will produce no fruit at all that year. A tree with leaves (as both Mark and Matthew described it) should also have fruit, but that tree was barren. We could say that the tree gave the appearance of having fruit but actually had none. That is like the Jewish leaders of Jesus’ day. They appeared righteous, but theirs was a hypocritical and empty righteousness. Consequently, Jesus cursed this tree of hypocrisy that symbolized the condition of the leaders of God’s covenant people.” (New Testament Seminary Student Study Guide, Mark 11-12: What Jesus Did and Taught during His Last Week)
“Faith in the Lord is trust in the Lord. We cannot have true faith in the Lord without also having complete trust in the Lord’s will and in the Lord’s timing. As a result, no matter how strong our faith is, it cannot produce a result contrary to the will of Him in whom we have faith. Remember that when your prayers do not seem to be answered in the way or at the time you desire. The exercise of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is always subject to the order of heaven, to the goodness and will and wisdom and timing of the Lord. When we have that kind of faith and trust in the Lord, we have true security and serenity in our lives.” (Elder Dallin H. Oaks, The Atonement and Faith, 2010)

“What if the day of His coming were tomorrow? If we knew that we would meet the Lord tomorrow – through our premature death or His unexpected coming – what would we do today? What confessions would we make? What practices would we discontinue? What accounts would we settle? What forgivenesses would we extend? What testimonies would we bear?
If we would do those things then, why not now? Why not seek peace while peace can be obtained? If our lamps of preparation are drawn down, let us start immediately to replenish them.
We need to make both temporal and spiritual preparation for the events prophesied at the time of the Second Coming. And the preparation most likely to be neglected is the one less visible and more difficult – the spiritual. A 72-hour kit of temporal supplies may prove valuable for earthly challenges, but, as the foolish virgins learned to their sorrow, a 24-hour kit of spiritual preparation is of greater and more enduring value.” (Elder Dallin H. Oaks, Ensign, 2004)
